Installation

Install the Jota packages in Salesforce, add your Shopify store, connect Salesforce, and verify the connection.

On this page

Before you begin

You need:

  • Jota in your Shopify admin. The 1Sync team sets this up with you. If you don’t see it under Apps, get in touch.
  • A Salesforce administrator account that can install packages and manage permission sets.
  • A Salesforce org with API access. Jota connects to Salesforce through its API.

Each Shopify store connects to one Salesforce org at a time. To try Jota in a sandbox, use the sandbox links below and select Sandbox org when you connect Salesforce.

If you plan to use Jota B2B, turn on Contacts to Multiple Accounts in Salesforce before you install it.

Install the packages

Install Jota Core first, then Jota B2B if you need it.

Jota B2B (optional)Install B2BInstall B2B in a sandbox

Follow the Salesforce installation flow with an administrator account. You can confirm each package and its version in Setup → Installed Packages.

These links always point to the current release. To upgrade later, open the same links and update Core before B2B.

Configure permissions

Jota uses three shared roles: Admin, User, and Integration. Set them up once for your org, then assign yourself the Admin role.

  1. In Salesforce, open the App Launcher and select Jota - Shopify Integration.
  2. Open Shopify Store Config Manager.
  3. In Jota permissions, select Review permissions, then Configure permissions. Wait for Salesforce to finish recalculating the role groups.
  4. Find your user, choose the Admin role, then select Review assignments and Assign access.

See users and permissions for what each role can do and how to add the rest of your team.

Add your store

  1. In Shopify Store Config Manager, select Add store.
  2. Enter your store’s .myshopify.com address, then select Create and connect.

Jota creates the store’s Salesforce credentials and gives you access to them. A new browser window then opens. If it asks you to open the embedded Jota app, close that window and continue with the next step.

Allow Jota to connect

Salesforce keeps app access policies in your org, so the package can’t set this for you. You only need to do this once.

  1. In Salesforce Setup, open External Client App Manager and select Jota.
  2. Edit its Policies.
  3. Under OAuth Policies, set Permitted Users to Admin approved users are pre-authorized.
  4. Add the Shopify Integration User permission set, then save.

Adding a store gives you this permission set automatically. Salesforce can take a few minutes to apply policy changes.

Connect Salesforce

Connect from Jota, using the same Salesforce user who added the store.

  1. In your Shopify admin, open Jota from Apps.
  2. Select Salesforce user credentials.
  3. If you are connecting a sandbox, select Sandbox org.
  4. Select Connect Salesforce, then sign in to Salesforce and approve access.

Jota then adds its Shopify credential to Salesforce for you. When it finishes, you’ll see Salesforce connected and Shopify credentials configured. If the credential step fails, select Retry credential setup. You don’t need to reconnect.

Connect with a Jota Admin user. Jota uses this connection for syncing and to keep its Shopify credential in Salesforce up to date. The Jota Integration role can’t update credentials, so a connection that uses it can stop working when the credential renews.

Finish store setup

Go back to Shopify Store Config Manager and open your store.

  1. Under Defaults, review these settings:
    • Default price book is the price book Jota uses for this store. New stores use the Standard Price Book. If you choose a different one, products are still added to the Standard Price Book as well.
    • Custom product is the Salesforce product Jota uses for Shopify line items with no product or variant. It needs an active entry in the store’s price book.
    • Stage after sending a draft order optionally moves an Opportunity to a new stage after it’s sent to Shopify. Choose Keep current stage to turn this off.
  2. Select Verify connection.

Check the setup

  1. Update a test customer in Shopify.
  2. In Jota, open Sync history and confirm the event shows Created or Updated.
  3. In Salesforce, open the matching Contact and confirm the change.

Next, review your field mappings, then import your existing data.

If a step fails, see troubleshooting.
